NEW YORK, NY — Television executives at ABC wasted no time finding their replacement for Rosie O’Donnell on their daytime roundtable talk-show The View.
ESPN’s own Mike Greenberg has been tabbed as the next to join co-hosts Joy Behar, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, and Barbara Walters on the popular show. Greenberg is the first male to be featured on the program, but executives felt the longtime ESPN analyst would add a much-needed, effeminate perspective to The View.
“We wanted to make a quick decision, but at the same time we needed to make the right one,” ABC executive Jeremy Givens said. “Mike Greenberg is going to be a perfect fit on the show. We look forward to hearing his opinions about the topics that are most important to today’s woman. He is unique in many ways, but most importantly women can relate to him on a much deeper level than someone like Rosie O’Donnell. It’s a perfect fit.”
Greenberg is set to leave ESPN within the next week and begin preparing for his new gig. The current hosts of the show were surprised to learn of their future co-worker, but are confident Greenberg will quickly become just “one of the girls.”
