It immediately became clear to Dades that the show was fake. “Flavor Flav, whose real name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr., asked everyone to address him as William when the cameras weren’t rolling. He frequently referred to the show as ‘love’s bitter farce’ and showed everyone pictures of his real wife and children. It was obvious from day 1 that William was not actually there to find a woman.”

Equally surprising was the caliber of the women “competing” on the show. Dades quickly learned that they were all actresses who had attended high-caliber theater programs at such institutions as NYU and Northwestern University. Dades quotes one woman, known as Hollurr on the show, as saying “this is the greatest role I’ve ever had the pleasure to play.”

Dades is currently writing a book about her experience, which she says will be sure to upset many of the people involved with the fake show. “You can only fool the public for so long,” she says. “Eventually everything gets found out. But I’m not publishing anything until I’ve had a chance to be on ‘Charm School‘ and win some money.”
